Writing, Research, and Responsibility: Why I Do What I Do

Keywords: storytelling for social change, mental health awareness, leadership accountability, cultural identity, research-driven writing, lived experience

Storytelling has always been at the heart of my work. With more than 20 years’ experience across retail management, administration, general care, mental health, and events security, I’ve witnessed many narratives of resilience, struggle, and identity that demand to be shared.

My writing bridges academic research and lived experience, focusing on mental health awareness, leadership accountability, and cultural identity. I believe that research should be accessible and actionable, not confined to academic journals but part of everyday conversations and community solutions.

At Shades of Reality, we use storytelling as a tool for social change, empowering individuals and organisations to reflect on their values and responsibilities. Leadership without accountability can perpetuate harm, so I prioritize integrity in all my work.

Through writing and research, I aim to inspire, educate, and empower, helping people to embrace their full identities and lead with confidence and compassion.
